The ISM International School was founded in 1958. During this time, it has operated under the names of OCS - The Oil Companies' School and CUSAM. Now, the School serves expatriate pupils whose parents work in the oil business, medical fields and the diplomatic communities. When space permits, we accept students from other areas of the international community.

The School is housed on a 5 acre campus in the Hay Andulus suburb of Tripoli. Facilities include 45 classrooms, an auditorium, gymnasium, science laboratories, libraries, an infirmary, school canteen, playing fields and childrens' playground. We currently have 550 students.

Miss McPhee is Canadian and graduated from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan in 1980. Her Bachelor of Education Degree specializes in Reading, Special Education and Early Childhood Education.

After working with the School Board for a school in Saskatchewan, she joined the ISM School in 1990, working as class teacher until becoming Principal of the Elementary School in 2000 and then Principal of the whole school in 2001.

Miss McPhee says that since she started at the School, she has seen many changes. A major one was going from a Kindergarten to Grade 9 School, to one that offers Grade 12 Graduation. She has always enjoyed living and working in Libya; the international flavour of the School always involves developing friendships with people from all around the world and in this technological age, it has made keeping in touch with people that have moved to other countries very easy.
