Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
The youngest members of the ISM family attend school for half days only. Here the children learn how to behave and how go to school!
Proficiency in English is the most important part of their learning. Through games and other activities, they also learn how to communicate with other children from many backgrounds, to count, read, paint, sing and the most challenging of all - to meet the expectations of adults.
Elementary Grades 1 to 6
ISM emphasizes the skills which students need for a good foundation: mathematics, reading and writing. Also incorporated into the elementary curriculum are Social Studies, Science, Spelling, Arabic, French, Art, Music and most students' favourite, Physical Education.
Within all the classes enrichment experiences supplement the academic areas due to the international blend of students. the students simply concentrate on learning everything they can about each other, languages included. This cross-cultural interaction provides opportunities to make friends from around the world.
High School Grades 7 to 12
The High School follows the curriculum of the Irish Department of Education and science. At its core is a strong emphasis on academic achievement and self discipline. to highlight the importance of the academic core, we have 3 examinations per year which take place in November, February and May.
In Grades 7 to 9, the subjects are English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Art, French, Arabic, with the addition of Business Studies for Grade 10 students. Physical Education is also an important part of the curriculum.
In the senior cycle (Grades11 and 12), the students study in preparation for the Irish Leaving Certificate. This is an internationally recognised examination which is deemed to be above par when compared to the final examinations of other countries. Throughout this 2 year course, assessment involves full examinations 3 times each year with detailed reports being furnished to parents. English, Mathematics and Physical Education must be taken at this level. Students then have a choice of studying French, Arabic, Art, Business Studies, Physics, History, Chemistry, Geography, Biology or Economics.
Parent and Teacher Meetings are arranged twice a year to encourage co-operation between the School and the parents, thereby encouraging self-directed learning within our students and building self confidence for students to achieve their academic goals.
